As public employees/ taxpayers, we are now being faced with challenging times. The Ohio Governor wants to sell or lease to private entities, and sometimes foreign conglomerates, the Ohio State prison system, Ohio Lottery, The Ohio Turnpike and many more items that are in the his current budget bill. Our Public employees that will face with massive job loss/abolishment and even worse some will be faced with foreclosures and fiscal ruins. We need the public’s help once again to stop this madness in Ohio. We will be doing an initiative petition drive to force the issue to the voters of Ohio. and if possible A legal challenge.
The question is do we as Ohioans want our governor and legislature to sell off Ohio’s assets? Without your voice and a taxpayer, and Owner of most of these state assets. You are being asked to sign a on line petition that will go into a database by county so that we will be able to force this issue to a vote of Ohio Citizens. We desperately need every Ohioan to assist in this matter. This matter is very important because some pertains of the budget violates the Ohio Constitution and this matter is in court. Ohioans in the past have overwhelming spoke on this issue before.
Permitting state funds to be invested in a private corporation appears to be a direct violation of Article 8, Section 4 of the Ohio Constitution, which states, ''The credit of the state shall not, in any manner, be given or loaned to, or in aid of, any individual association or corporation whatever; nor shall the state ever hereafter become a joint owner, or stockholder, in any company or association in this state, or elsewhere, formed for any purpose whatever.''
The prohibition of using public tax dollars for investments in private companies goes back to the 1837 in Ohio.
